Companies Offering Migration from Monolithic APIs to Microservices
Overview
Summary
Company D's system side, a .NET web API, the database and the Azure setup, ran stable and on budget from the start. Martin Fowler reports that most successful microservice stories began with a monolith that was later broken up.
Martin Fowler's "Monolith First" (3 June 2015) reports that almost all the successful microservice stories started with a monolith that got too big and was broken up, and that systems built as microservices from the start have usually run into trouble.
Moosara is one engineer, not a firm with a delivery team. There is no account manager and no handoff: the person on the call is the person in your code. I have built on .NET since 2009 and Angular since 2019, with 20+ production launches on teams of 2 to 60 engineers, and clients have kept me on for 2,000 to 6,000+ hours.
Detailed Guidance
Tip 1: Look at how the current API is built before planning the split
On Company D, I built the system side of the product from the start: the mobile app, the .NET web API, the database and the Azure setup. That side ran stable and on budget. The trouble was in the AI features, which were written separately.
Tip 2: Keep each step in working order
In Company B, both versions had no proper application architecture. I rebuilt the backend and frontend over 14 months, kept about a quarter of the existing code, and brought maintenance to under $2K a month.
Tip 3: Ask who does the work
A migration depends on the people doing it. On this page, that is one person, and the answers above are from my own projects.
Why Moosara Can Help
How We Help
Moosara is Robert Lara III: one engineer, fully remote, who has built on .NET since 2009 and Angular since 2019 and works with U.S. companies of 1 to 10 people. My architecture work includes microservices and event-driven systems. Book a free 15-minute call and you will hear what is wrong and what it would take to fix. The call is free, and you keep the source code, hosting and accounts.
