App Modernisation Consultancy

Overview

Summary

Moosara is a consultancy of one: the person on the call is the person in your code. Company A's app was five Angular versions behind, and after stabilizing and upgrading it, engineering cost fell from $48K to $8.7K a month.

There is no account manager and no handoff: the person on the call is the person in your code. I have built on .NET since 2009 and Angular since 2019, with 20+ production launches on teams of 2 to 60 engineers, and clients have kept me on for 2,000 to 6,000+ hours.

My focus is .NET, Angular, Azure and SQL Server, and I have stayed on that stack since 2009.

Detailed Guidance

Tip 1: Find out who will write the code

On a consultancy of one, the engineer who scopes the work is the engineer who does it. My clients are U.S. companies of 1 to 10 people, and I work fully remotely.

Consider a simple scenario. If you owned a Ferrari, would you take it to a mechanic who works only on Ferraris, or one who works on every make and model? The same reasoning applies to software. I work only on .NET, Angular, Azure and SQL Server, and I have stayed on that stack since 2009, so the person looking at your application has spent years on exactly that stack.

Tip 2: Check support dates for the stack you run

Microsoft ends free support and patches for .NET 8 (LTS) and .NET 9 (STS) on November 10, 2026. .NET 10 (LTS) is supported until November 14, 2028. Angular major releases are typically supported for 24 months.

Both vendors publish these dates in advance, so the question to put to any consultancy is which of your versions falls inside the window and when.

Tip 3: Ask for a past upgrade with its result

Company A paid a team of five engineers about $48K a month while the lead engineer rewrote the whole app from scratch, telling the owner that Angular could not scale and the app was too buggy to stabilize. The app was five Angular versions behind, and the team was writing Angular as if it were plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

I spent a month fixing bugs and stabilizing the existing app, with no rewrite, and upgraded Angular to the current version. As the app stabilized, the owner let the other engineers go. Engineering cost fell from $48K to $8.7K a month, and ongoing maintenance and new features now cost under $4K a month.
